Qabbani: I do not owe the State any money

The Head of the public works and transportation committee MP Mohammad Qabbani responded to accusations made by the Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun and Energy Minister Gebran Bassil. Qabbani said on Monday that during the meeting between the President of the Gas Station Owners Syndicate Sami Brax and Bassil, the latter provoked Brax by refusing the royalty increase so the Syndicate would start accusing the public works committee.

“Does any sane Lebanese accept this method of political rivalry that has harmed one of the sacred pillars: Martyrdom for the sake of the nation”, Qabbani said. Qabbani added that commercial generators were banned in Beirut 13 years ago.

Qabbani stressed that he does not owe the state any money, not even an unpaid electricity, water or telephone bill, adding that he has paid all his taxes. “I intend to file a lawsuit against those spreading those words. I will discuss this matter with Speaker Nabih Berri”, Qabbani said.
