Maronite Patriarchs warn of the repercussions of regional developments
The Maronite patriarchs’ council voiced concerns on Wednesday over the rapid regional developments and their repercussions on Lebanon.

The council called on the Lebanese to close ranks, protect the state’s sovereignty and adopt “positive neutrality” so that Lebanon becomes the country of regional and cultural dialogue.

Following its monthly meeting headed by Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai, the council voiced appreciation for the efforts exerted by the political authority to deal with vital issues, warning against procrastination.

The council also appealed to the Lebanese to preserve their lands and to not sell them to foreigners.

The priests also welcomed the visit of UN Chief Ban Ki-Moon to Lebanon and his participation in the conference on Reform and Transition to Democracy.
