Russian veto at UNSC draws mixed protests in Beirut
Rival pro and anti-Russian demonstrations swept Corniche-Mazra'a in the direction of the Russian embassy compound early on Sunday. Demonstrators comprising of Syrian immigrant workers and Lebanese supporters have been kept apart by heavy security including armored cars and buses.

The pro-Russian demonstration was allowed to reach up to the embassy gate while the rival group was kept at a distance by police vehicles.

Protesters brandished anti-Assad slogans and pictures of fallen victims during the ongoing unrest while pro-Russian demonstrators thanked Moscow for its veto at the U.N. Security Council yesterday.
