Iran: Sanctions have no effect on determination to pursue rights
Iran dismissed new US sanctions directed at Tehran on Tuesday and a spokesperson insisted they would not halt the country's nuclear program.

Speaking to reporters during a weekly news conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the sanctions would have no effect on Iran's determination to pursue its legitimate rights.

"The actual results of these measures will be a stronger and more serious determination from our nation to achieve its great objectives," he said.

Washington ordered the new penalties on Monday, giving U.S. banks additional powers to freeze assets linked to the Iranian government and close loopholes that officials say Iran has used to move money despite earlier restrictions imposed by the U.S. and Europe.
