REPORT: Former Lebanon PM Hariri says Hezbollah dialogue aims to end power vacuum
Future Movement leader, former Prime Minister Saad Hariri marked on Saturday the 10th anniversary of his father's assassination, saying “Lebanon cannot address challenges ahead without the implementation of Rafik Hariri’s project”.         
 
Late Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was killed in a 2005 Beirut waterfront bombing that almost tipped the country into civil war.         
 
Five members of Lebanese Shi'ite group Hezbollah have been indicted over the killing by an international tribunal in The Hague, which is being closely watched in Lebanon. The trial in absentia began in January 2014 and Hezbollah has denied any involvement in the killing.  
 
“We will not give in to despair nor will we abandon Rafik Hariri’s dream of upholding Arab integration and building a modern state,” Future Movement leader Saad Hariri said during a televised speech at the Beirut International Exbition and Leisure Center (BIEL) in downtown Beirut.        
 
“Dialogue with Hezbollah is not a step to overcome differences but an Islamic and national need to end the presidential vacuum at the time being,” Hariri said.         
 
“We will not acknowledge any right for Hezbollah that exceeds that of the state in making war and peace decisions,” he noted, saying “it is important to distance the Lebanese people from political discrepancies”.           
 
On another note, Hariri said "late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz will remain in the memory of the Lebanese people," adding “we pledge loyalty to the Kingdom, its people and leadership”.          
 
Lebanon's former PM Saad Hariri made a rare visit to his country on Saturday, attending a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of his father Rafik's assassination, live television footage showed.             
 
Smiling and waving, Saad entered the hall to theatrical music. Surrounded by bodyguards, he stopped to shake hands with politicians and diplomats as his supporters chanted and shouted.
