REPORT: PM Salam chairs cabinet session at Grand Serail
Prime Minister Tammam Salam chaired on Thursday a cabinet session at the Grand Serail.

Following the session, Information Minister Ramzi Jreij quoted PM Salam as saying that one year following the government's formation there is a dire need to assess its performance.

He also noted that PM Salam reiterated the cabinet's status as being “consensual,” adding that the government made achievements under the mandate of former president Michel Sleiman.

Jreij stressed that Salam urged the swift election of a new president for the country.

Prior to the session, Minister of Agriculture Akram Chehayyeb stressed the necessity of convening a session, adding that ministers will be tackling a regular agenda.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since last May when the mandate of Sleiman ended without electing a new president.
