Abbas reiterates commitment to talks and two-state solution

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Tuesday that the commitment of the Palestinian authority to peace talks will lead to the two-state solution. Abbas stressed that this will only be achieved if Israel shows its commitment to all ratified conventions and freezes settlements, holding the Israelis responsible for the deterioration of the political process.

During a joint press conference with his Croatian counterpart Ivo Josipovic visiting Ramallah, Abbas added that the current deterioration of the political process is due to the Israeli government’s violation of the bilateral agreements and U.N. conventions.

Abbas stressed that the Palestinian authority will not tolerate this situation any longer and will soon take measures agreed upon with Arab countries.
