Rayess to LBCI: Jumblatt’s remarks speak for themselves, Taif not to be abandoned

Progressive Socialist Party spokesperson Rami Rayess told Nharkom Saiid TV show that the Taif agreement did not only address equality in power, it also determined Lebanon’s identity and Arabism.

Rayess underscored the importance of clinging to all Taif pillars.

“Jumblatt’s remarks regarding the need for a new Taif agreement between the Sunnis and the Shiites only intend to stimulate a dialogue”, Rayess said, “Jumlatt’s remarks only aim at getting the country out of the deadlock and protecting it from the repercussions of the Syrian event at this critical juncture”.

Rayess asserted that Jumblatt did not intend to say that the Taif agreement should be amended.

Rayess added that some political powers have boycotted others and that there are conditions and counter-conditions for dialogue.
