Kanaan calls for a serious follow-up on the red diesel issue

The red diesel issue was prevailing during the Finance Committee session that was held in the presence of Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi, Energy Minister Gibran Bassil, Economy Minister Nicolas Nahas, director general of oil refineries Sarkis Hleis and regulatory bodies’ officials.

The committee’s chair, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, said that this issue is not covered-up, but seriously followed up on. “During the session, we heard a presentation by the minister of energy regarding this issue”.

Kanaan said that the committee is waiting for a detailed report on the quantities of distributed red diesel from the Ministry of Economy, along with another report from the concerned authorities at the end of this week.

Kanaan said that there is a one-week deadline to submit all the reports, and a new date will be set for a new committee session to disclose all relevant facts to the public.
