Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Friday underscored the importance of the legacy left by the martyr leaders, which is the resistance.
“This resistance freed south Lebanon in 2000 and thwarted American-Israeli plans to divide the region”, Nasrallah said during the commemoration of martyr leaders’ day and the assassination of former Hezbollah chief Abbas Moussawi in Nabi Sheet.
Nasrallah stressed that our culture has taught us to accept death because it is God’s will and no one can change their fate.
“On this occasion, we should remind others how dangerous or enemy is”, Hezbollah chief said.
Speaking on Netanyahu’s recent statements, Nasrallah noted: “Such remarks stem from the Israeli ideology to destroy others, which was done through murder, threats, and desecration of holy sites.”
Nasrallah considered the incident where Korans where burnt in Afghanistan by U.S. troops in Afghanistan as an Israeli-orchestrated act.
Hezbollah’s secretary general stressed that Israel does not intimidate the resistance, adding that it will not succumb to Israel’s psychological war.
I n regard to regional events, Nasrallah said that the whole region, including Lebanon, is passing through a critical phase, therefore it is not possible to act as if Lebanon has nothing to do with these developments.
“Our security is linked to the region’s security”, he added.
Nasrallah noted that Lebanon has chosen to dissociate itself from these developments in order to maintain stability and harmony within the government.
“We are keen on Lebanon’s security and political stability. Those keen on creating strife in Iraq and Libya want to spark chaos in Lebanon”, Nasrallah added, “We should avoid all issues that might instigate strife in Lebanon and Syria. We can express ourselves without sparking sectarian tensions.”
Hezbollah’s leader said that Lebanon has succeeded in warding off attempts to create strife.
Speaking on the governmental developments, Nasrallah said: “We are the most humble party within the cabinet and we postpone discussions on critical issues to assure its continuity”.
Nasrallah said that ever since it was formed, the cabinet has not been given an opportunity to function properly, adding that the international community has been incited against it. He called on the government to hold new meetings.
Hezbollah’s secretary general confirmed that March 14 forces know that this government does not belong to Hezbollah.
Pertaining to the disputed issue of offshore wealth, Nasrallah said: “Oil is a blessing and Netanyahu is working day and night to exploit this wealth. This oil does not belong to Israel, rather to Palestinians. While Israel is working tirelessly we should ask ourselves what are we doing? Relying on foreign powers to tackle this issue is useless.”
