Layyoun: Cabinet will begin work with renewed momentum

Culture Minister Gaby Layyoun voiced hope that the cabinet will seize Monday’s session as an opportunity to begin work with renewed momentum, adding that ministers will steer clear from controversial issues.

“The cabinet will hold up to two sessions on a weekly basis to look into other important matters such as the budget and the electoral law”, Layyoun told Voice of Lebanon radio station on Monday.

Layyoun said that Wednesday’s session will bear witness to discussions over administrative appointments.

Speaking on the row over extra-budgetary spending between the current and former governments, Layyoun said: “There’s a difference between spending with [financial] records and undocumented spending.”
