Mikati: History book ought to be drafted away from personal considerations

Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed Monday that the history book drafting to which the government had given a green light was an opportunity to validate Lebanon's modern history which relays past stages of which we feel very proud.       

"We seek a new history book faithful to our glorious past and truthful to the facts which no one can ever ignore," Mikati said, assuring therefore that setting the history book must be executed away from personal calculations and considerations.        

"We look for a history book which will be the fruit of national joint efforts reflecting the importance of our national unity and the uniqueness of our conviviality," the Premier affirmed, while sponsoring the event held by the Education and Higher Learning Ministry at the Grand Serail.       

The event aimed at putting forth the executive plan for the project "D-RASATI" within the "program for supporting the rehabilitation and development of schools and teachers affairs" funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).        

Minister Hassan Diab also delivered a word on this occasion, praising this reform step which serves national interest by boosting the educative sector via D-RASATI.         

"The plan of action we seek to accomplish today has four angles pertaining to the assessment of needs, the improvement of schools' learning environment, the increase of learning opportunities and the boosting of local community's participation," explained the Minister.         

The US Ambassador, Maura Connelly, also made some remarks on this occasion, saying that this step paved the way for developing official schools in Lebanon and answering the needs of the new generation which contributes in boosting Lebanon's image of plurality, prosperity, stability and independence.        

"Our commitment to support the Lebanese people is still as solid as it was 60 years ago when we first started our partnership for development purposes," Connelly concluded.
