Jumblatt: Damned are the days when constitutional plays take place over body counts

National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt criticized the Syrian referendum, saying “damned are the days when some constitutional plays take place over body counts”. Jumblatt added that if the military intervention is rejected for this reason or that, the regime’s rejection of the transitional political solution, the Yemeni way, will complicate the situation further.

Jumblatt told al-Anbaa newspaper that it is necessary that the opposition forces unify their efforts, if Tunisia’s conference did not live up to the aspirations of the Syrian people and the Syrian opposition.

“We wish the advisor of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Wilayati, who is a pediatrician, had voiced solidarity with the scenes showing children who are being tortured and killed across Syria”, he said.
