Lebanon gave it all on the pitch but relied on a Korea win to qualify
The loss incurred by the Lebanese national football team to the U.A.E. in the match that took place in Abu Dhabi stadium did not prevent the Lebanese from celebrating the qualification of the national team for the final round of the 2014 World Cup Asia regional qualifiers.

Tariq Al Jadidah rejoiced after the match by clapping, dancing, beating drums and setting off fireworks. Some residents stood on their porches raising the Lebanese flags.

The majority of the Lebanese blamed the goalkeeper for the loss of their team to the U.A.E.

Facebook pages were filled with the “Thank you Korea” statuses in reference to the victory of the Korean football team over the Kuwait which gave Lebanon a ticket to the next round.

Some universities and schools interrupted classes and installed a giant screen to allow their students to enjoy the game. Along with the red and white of the jerseys, every screen in Lebanon had a dash of blue as LBCI was the exclusive broadcaster of today’s match.
