Berri: Lebanon has maintained monetary security and stability

House Speaker Nabih Berri reiterated that Lebanon’s policy of disassociating itself from events in Syria serves its security and stability, and guarantees that our country’s borders are not open to conflicts, weapons and cross-border violence.       

Following Berri’s meeting with Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus, Berri reassured the Lebanese that their country maintained its monetary security and stability despite incidents that were contained thanks to the nationwide cooperation and the national role of the LAF.          

Berri said that he appreciates the fact that Cyprus understands the Lebanese fears of Israel exploiting agreements with Cyprus to carry out violations against Lebanese sovereignty and the country’s mineral rights. He added that he called on Cyprus to support the United Nations’ demarcation of the Lebanese maritime borders and the economic zone.         

For her part, the Cypriot minister said that there is no problem between Lebanon and Cyprus regarding the free economic zone. She added that her country is ready to help resolve the issue.
