STL must reestablish the culture of justice in Lebanon
Former Justice Minister Charles Rizk told Nharkom Said TV show that the STL’s work is ongoing, adding that accusations are likely to reach a wider circle of people.

“It is only natural that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon accused those indicted in the assassination of former PM Rafic Hariri of creating a group of criminals”, Rizk added,  “The STL has the duty to reestablish the culture of justice in Lebanon”.

Speaking on the appointment of a higher judicial council, Rizk described the adoption of the quota principle within the judicial system as a scandal. Rizk highlighted the importance of an independent judiciary.

“I do not deny that the cabinet is doing a good job, however this can only be credited to PM Najib Mikati and his wisdom”, Rizk said.

Pertaining to the stances taken by the head of the National Struggle Front, Rizk said that centralism is the best solution. “If Jumblatt’s stances prompt everyone to get back to their senses, then they are fine”, Rizk added.

Regarding the Syrian situation, Rizk said that the purpose behind Syrian events is to reshape the region, adding that the events go beyond Syria and will affect the entire Middle East.
