Rai: Jordan characterized by pluralism and openness
Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai said on Friday that the Hashimite Kingdom of Jordan is characterized by pluralism and openness to tribes, religious communities and Christians’ quotas. On the second day of his pastoral visit to the Maronite Patriarchy in Jordan, Rai added that Jordan’s present is built on its past.

During his visit to Um al-Rasas where many ancient churches can be found, Rai stressed that the kingdom is an example for peaceful coexistence and reforms. “It is characterized by the culture of dialogue and mutual understanding”, Raid said.

In an interview with a Jordanian television, the patriarch hailed Jordan’s role as a pluralist and open country. “The Christians have contributed greatly to the culture of this country that has preserved its past”, Rai said, “Islam is a spiritual and cultural wealth just like Christianity”.
