Several injured in Saifi incident, Mikati following up
Clashes erupted between the security forces and Kataeb student protesting the new history book on Saturday. A number of students were injured while marching towards the Grand Serail.

Exclusive sources told LBCI that the students blocked Saifi street near downtown Beirut and are allowing one  car at a time to pass.

Prime Minister, Najib Mikati , followed up on the incident, contacting Interior Minister, Marwan Charbel, who briefed him on the ins and outs of the dispute.

Mikati also contacted MP Sami Gemayel, expressing dismay over what happened.

On a separate note, it was agreed that a student delegation visits Mikati on Tuesday in order to list the students’ demands regarding the history book within the school curriculum.
