REPORT: Presidential elections deferred until November 11 –Speaker Berri

Speaker Nabih Berri postponed Wednesday the parliamentary session aimed at electing a new president until the 11th of November due to lack of quorum.

Following the session, former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said that the [rival] party obstructing the presidential elections is responsible for the country’s status quo, including the deterioration of the economic situation.

Concerning the waste crisis, Siniora stressed that the Future Movement supports the governmental plan, calling on the cabinet to take initiative and make the appropriate decisions.

Lebanon officially entered presidential vacuum on May 25, 2014 after the six-year term of former President Michel Sleiman expired.
