Jezzine hospital threatened to close doors due to unpaid salaries

The employees of Jezzine State Hospital staged a demonstration in front of the emergency entrance in protest against not receiving their salaries for the past eight months. The demonstrators stressed that their strike has no political backgrounds. The employees asked for a new board, financial aid and cooperation from MPs, threatening to close down the hospital if their demands are not answered.

The financial manager of the hospital Hassan Hassan said that the least that these employees who treat the patients can ask for is to get paid. On the other hand, head of the nursing section Dolly Wakim said that the hospital is still receiving patients.

The head of the hospital Beshara Hajjar considered that the hospital is struggling due to political and personal reasons, calling for providing the needed support rather than slandering the medical institution.

“I urge all employees to get back to their work, be productive, show solidarity and refuse division”, Hajjar added.
