Herdsmen attack 3 Christian villages in Nigeria

Police say herdsmen have attacked three villages in central Nigeria, and a witness says as many as 10 residents were killed.

The attack occurred Thursday night in Kaduna state in the country's fertile middle belt, says state police spokesman Aminu Lawan. But he had no further details.
Witness Sunday Amos said Friday that Muslim Hausa Fulani herdsmen carried out the attack on the three Christian villages and he gave the estimated death toll.
Other villages around Kaduna have been attacked over recent months.

Kaduna was at the heart of riots following Nigeria's April 2011 presidential election that saw about 800 people killed.
