Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil sent two letters to the United Nations Secretary General and the head of the UN Security Council, expressing Lebanon’s rejection of the expression “the voluntary return of the refugees” mentioned in the resolution 2254 on Syria.
During the third meeting of the International Syria Support Group held in New York, the Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2254, endorsing a road map for peace process in Syria.
The Council also reconfirmed its endorsement of the 30 June 2012 Geneva Communiqué, and endorsed the “Vienna Statements” in pursuit of the Communiqué’s implementation as the basis for a Syrian-led, Syrian-owned political transition to end the conflict.
