Authorities raid rotten meat warehouse once again while old candy burns in Bekaa

Preliminary Investigative Judge in Beirut Ghassan Awaidet postponed until March 29, the interrogation of Samih al Natour who was arrested over the rotten meat case, on Monday. The judge took the decision upon the request of al-Natour's lawyer.

It was earlier reported that concerned authorities in Tarik el-Jdideh recalled a quantity of spoiled goods from a warehouse owned by the al-Natour brothers.

Samples were taken from the goods and transferred to a laboratory to run tests that will show whether the merchandise was imported rotten or simply expired in storage and was not marketed. The authorities asked for all documents to disclose the names of the buyers.

Meanwhile, an unknown person smashed and burned the candy contents of a truck in the Bekaa on Monday. The unidentified person took a load of candies, which expired in 2006 according to evidence on the scene, out of a pick up truck in the west Bekaa, smashing and burning the lot of rotten sweets.
