Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai said that the political process includes legislation, administration and judiciary, noting that the public institutions exercise these practices and calling for the election of a new president so that these institutions will be able to rebuild the nation.
In his holy sermon delivered during Sunday Mass at Bkerke, Rai pointed out that “when the political and parliamentary blocs are called to discuss a new initiative concerning the presidential election, this is because electing a president is the main issue.”
“Our remarks over the new initiative being serious and supported, mean that were are distinguishing between the initiative itself and the proposed name,” he explained, urging the political parties to hold discussions and make the appropriate decision based on the current facts.
In this regard, the patriarch stressed that it has become unacceptable to overturn any more opportunities to elect a new president.
“The country can no longer bear another year and eight months of vacuum, institutional paralysis, poverty, negligence, humiliation and displacement,” he stated.
