Souaid to LBCI: There is an inclination towards nominating Aoun for the presidency
March 14 Secretary General Fares Souaid disclosed Monday that the Lebanese Forces MP Georges Adwan clarified yesterday during the March 14 meeting that there is an inclination towards nominating head of Change and Reform Bloc MP Michel Aoun for the presidency.

“However, I think neither Aoun nor Marada leader MP Sleiman Frangieh are capable of reaching the presidency in the meantime,” he added.

Souaid’s comments were made during a phone call with LBCI’s Nharkom Said whereby he stressed that there is a serious attempt to break the country’s current deadlock, which can only happen through electing a new president.

The country has been without a head of state since the term of former President Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014, with rival political blocs still divided over a new leader.
