Bassil hails reactivation of Cabinet’s work
Foreign Affairs Minister Gebran Bassil said Friday that “the Cabinet’s work was re-activated after returning to the principle of consensus amid the presidential vacuum and following the approval of the military appointments.”

In a press conference, Bassil expressed his regret over the Cabinet’s failure to appoint an army commander, adding that “this might be achieved at a later stage.”

“Claims that the military appointments were made out of interests are far from being true,” the FM stated, explaining that they were made duly and based on efficiency.

“Today we can say that we achieved some of our demands and we insist on achieving the rest,” he added.

Speaking of the upcoming Syria Donors Conference that will be held in London on February 4, Bassil said that his ministry had prepared a new project that would enable Syrian refugees to return to their country once the conflict is over.
