Sleiman meets Qortbawi, discusses price list index

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman urged local municipal and security departments to do all they could to check violations and crackdown on outlaws with regards to expired food stuffs.

He reiterated need for preserving public health by referring all law-breakers to trial. He listed public health as his top priority adding to it the right of access of all citizens to medical supplies.

He vowed violators would henceforth enjoy absolutely no cover from anyone saying Lebanon's reputation is at stake.

The Presidential affirmations came during visits to Baabda by Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi and the Association of Lebanese consumers head Zuheir Berro who reassured him to the effect that they would conduct precise investigation into the matter.

President Sleiman and Qortbawi also agreed on checking price list index for all consumer commodities with all violators liable to stand trial.

A visiting delegation of Arab teachers conferred with the President over holding their next conference in Beirut while head of the Lebanese Union of Fencing Ziad Chweiri briefed the President over Lebanese prize-winning champions in Jordan with President Sleiman conferring on Chweiri a medal of appreciation for the tournament for his team's recent achievements in the Jordanian fencing tournament.

Mountain climbers Rafi Farajian and Bassam Sfeir presented the President with the Lebanese flag they've planted on top of Mount Everest.
