Change and Reform bloc rejects attacks launched against Bassil
The Change and Reform bloc rejected on Tuesday the attacks launched against Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil at the Arab League.
“They cannot challenge us in our support for Saudi Arabia,” Former Minister Salim Jreissati said after the bloc's weekly meeting.
Jreissati’s remarks came after Saudi Arabia announced on Friday that it was halting deals worth $4 billion aimed at equipping and supporting Lebanese security forces in retaliation for Lebanon siding with Iran in the Sunni kingdom's spat with the Shiite power.
“Lebanon is a founding member of the Arab League,” added Jreissati.
As for the trash crisis, Jreissati called for the establishment of sanitary landfills, urging the Lebanese officials to seek the country's interests instead of their financial profits.
Lebanon has been plunged into a waste management crisis since the closure of the Naameh landfill last July and the failure to find an alternative.
