Sleiman visits Mikati in Tripoli
Former Prime Minister Najib Mikati met on Saturday with former president Michel Sleiman at his residence in the northern city of Tripoli.

The discussions reportedly featured on high on the importance of electing a new president for the country.

Following the meeting, Sleiman said that the presidential vacuum has led to "confusion in the country’s foreign policy."

“The sole solution would be in the election of a new president,” stressed Sleiman.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of president Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 without the election of a successor.

Deep disputes between rival political parties have hindered the election of a new head of state
