Foreign Ministry voices solidarity with Tunisia after attacks
Lebanon's Foreign Ministry hailed on Tuesday the efforts deployed by the Tunisian security forces to avertan attack carried out by Islamist fighters one day earlier in a city near its border with Libya.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said it praises "the courage of the Tunisian security apparatuses," and called for the national military forces of all Arab countries to unite "in the face of terrorism".

It voiced solidarity with the Tunisian people, conveyed its condolences to the families of the dead and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Exceptionally deadly clashes between Tunisian forces and extremist attackers left at least 53 people dead on Monday near Tunisia's border with Libya, the Tunisian government said, amid growing fears that violence from Libya could destabilize the whole region.

Gunmen attacked the city of Ben Guerdane at dawn Monday and fighting continued past nightfall. Tunisia closed its border with Libya and the Tunisian interior and defense ministers traveled to the town to oversee the operation, according to a joint statement from their ministries.
