Security operations in district of Turkey's Diyarbakir to finish soon -minister

Turkish security operations against Kurdish militants in the Sur district of the southeastern city of Diyarbakir are expected to be completed soon, Turkey's interior minister said on Wednesday.

Efkan Ala made the comment at a joint news conference in Ankara with the foreign, justice and interior ministers of Turkey and Belgium. His comment came a day after authorities said similar operations had ended in Turkey's border town of Idil.

Turkish security forces have launched operations in towns and cities across the predominantly Kurdish southeast to root out Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants, who have declared autonomy and built ditches and barricades in residential areas.
