Mashnouq’s remarks were made in a statement issued by the ministry’s media office in response to those who criticized the latest Cabinet’s decision on treatment of domestic solid waste, saying it does not comply with the Barcelona Convention.
"The Cabinet’s decision is the best solution for the time being. For this solution to be temporary, joint efforts must be exerted for the sake of a sustainable plan," the statement read.
"Every minute we spend discussing the negative aspects of this decision only worsen the latter," it added.
Mashnouq concluded by urging civil society organizations, municipalities and private sector to cooperate in a bid to design the adequate sustainable solutions.
