Agriculture Minister Chehayeb: Residents of Aramoun agreed on reopening Naameh landfill for 60 days only
Minister of Agriculture Akram Chehayeb said on Friday that the dignitaries of the Aramoun region have agreed to the reopening of the Naameh landfill for only 60 days.

Chehayeb’s comments were made following his meeting with dignitaries of Aramoun and Chahhar villages whereby be noted that a solution will be found for the Naameh landfill after its final closure.

On Thursday, Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouq declared after a Cabinet session that the proposed plan to end the country’s trash crisis will go into effect on Friday.

It involves the reopening of the Naameh landfill for two months, the closure of which last July led to uncollected piles of trash accumulating in the streets, and led to numerous protests.
