Calm prevails in Ain el-Helweh refugee camp

Palestinian forces managed on Sunday to confirm the ceasefire observed in the Ain el-Helweh refugee camp in the southern region of Sidon.

 

This as security forces along with the Palestinian factions made the gunmen withdraw from the streets of the camp, prompting residents to return and inspect the damages in their homes.

 

The residents also held a breakfast as a confirmation of the end of the clashes.

 

One man was killed and others injured late on Friday in a Palestinian refugee camp in south Lebanon as a dispute between rival political groups escalated into gunbattles.

Ain al-Helweh camp, near the southern Lebanese coastal city of Sidon, has regularly seen factional disputes spiral into deadly violence.
