REPORT: Tourism Minister declares reopening of Jeita Grotto
Minister of Tourism Michel Pharaon declared on Sunday the reopening of the Jeita grotto after “amending the safety and security levels in the lower cave at the highest level.”

Lebanon’s infamous grotto took a heavy blow last January when an Egyptian tourist identified as Mina Ashraf drowned in the grotto’s river.

Following the incident, the Tourism Ministry ordered the closure of the lower basin until it became safe for visitors.”

On another note, Pharaon said that Lebanon’s tourism industry was negatively affected by the garbage crisis ravaging the country.
