Tantawi: No Armed Forces candidate in elections
Egypt's armed forces stand at an equal distance from all presidential candidates and have no candidate in the upcoming elections, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, head of the ruling military council, said.

The statement, reported by the Middle East News Agency (MENA), was on the margin of drills performed by some formations in the army at the Western military region.

A number of Egyptian experts and politicians believe that the military council running the country since Mubarak was ousted in February 2011 is behind the sudden announcement of nominating vice president and former intelligence chief Omar Seliman.
