Ogassapian slams cabinet's inactive attitude towards Syrian regime
Future Movement MP Jean Ogassapian denounced on Wednesday the events taking place on the Syrian-Lebanese border as “a violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty,” placing the responsibility on the inactive attitude of the Lebanese government.

“The cabinet is requested to take a political decision to implement its plan on border control which was earlier agreed upon with the Army Command”, Ogassapian told Nharkom Said TV show.

Ogassapian added that the cabinet is not willing to take a tough stance on the Syrian regime; “the strategic security decision rests with Hezbollah.”

“Lebanon should have recalled the Syrian ambassador to obtain clarifications on the recent events along the Syrian-Lebanese border which resulted in the martyrdom of the photographer Ali Shaaban,” he added.

Commenting on the issue of telephone data, Ogassapian confirmed that the issue is not related to the telephone interception law, adding that “the cabinet has tied ‘the data’ with the judicial committee which is not vested [with the power to act in this regard].”
