Primary school teachers adamant on strike, sit-in outside Grand Serail

The higher committee of contract primary public school teachers confirmed on Friday that a strike will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (April 17-19) and a strike and sit-in will be held on April 20 outside the Grand Serail at 11:30 a.m. amid the absence of any positive move by the cabinet and ministry of education regarding their demands.

The committee added that Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi tying the expenditure and financial allocations with the issue of 8.9 trillion LBP means “no financial dues in the near future”, stressing that the announcement of an open strike as well as the end of the academic year “will become reality” by May 2 in the event that the cabinet does not “meet the rightful demands.”
