Charbel to LBCI: Judicial body agrees to reveal telecommunications data

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel announced that the judicial body in charge of following up on the issue of telecommunications agreed to provide security forces with telecommunications traffic data. Charbel told Nharkom Said TV show that the cabinet made a decision a while back, according to which all data is to be transferred to the judicial body so that the right steps are taken.

Charbel explained that the all data refers to the content of telecommunications traffic and text messages, stressing that this is the main reason why the body was declining all requests to access the all data.

Charbel added that, through all data, security apparatuses would access phone calls made on Lebanese soil rather than intrude the privacy of the Lebanese.
