Mgr. Labaki files lawsuit against French attorneys
Attorney Antoine Akl, representing Father Mansour Labaki, filed a lawsuit before Beirut's Publications Court against French attorneys Solange Doumic and Jack T. on charges related to libel and slander, contempt, violation of the confidentiality of the investigation, violation of the presumption of innocence, publication of false news and fabrication of crimes. The lawsuit stated that “the crimes of the defendants can be proven by video and audio.”

The court set a date to look into the lawsuit on the 2nd of October 2016, while Mgr. Labaki reserved his right to prosecute the French and Italian defendants, each in his own country.

The libel of the French attorney practiced against Father Labaki came on the backdrop of a decision issued by the accusatory body in Mount Lebanon headed by Judge Afif Hakim on 24-03-2016, which stipulated the referral of all defendants: Celeste Akiki, Marleine Ghanem, Mirna Azar al-Haddad, Christian Boulos, Remond Maalouf, Maurice Beaino and Mario Akiki to the Investigative Judge in Mount Lebanon.

The charges raised against these defendants are related to fabrication of libel and slander, contempt, fabrication of crimes related to sexual harassment, incitement to false testimony and forgery.
