Jumblatt: Compromise with Assad regime a blow to Syrian sacrifices
Druze leader Walid Jumblatt voiced on Monday his opposition to any compromises with Bashar Assad's regime, adding that any compromise would deal a blow to all sacrifices made by the Syrian people.

In his weekly column for al-Anbaa daily, Jumblatt warned against the “devil” who lies in the logistical details of Kofi Annan's initiative, saying the plan must ultimately secure a regime change through peaceful transition.

He added that any political compromise allowing the 40-year-old Assad regime to stay in power would send the wrong message to dictators that they can maintain their grip through the use of force and oppression.

Jumblatt scoffed at Bahrain, whose main worry is to launch the Formula 1 race on time, and the repressive government in Khartoum. On the Lebanese scene,

Jumblatt urged the government to expose all those involved in the rotten food scandal and called on the cabinet components to address long-standing issues rather than engage in counterproductive slogans and distractions.
