Labor Ministry fines PAC for failing to pay employees
Labor Minister Salim Jreissaty stressed that all PAC agents go back to dialogue with the ministry as soon as possible before April 21.

Jreissaty received a delegation of legal representatives for PAC’s 397 employees who are expecting to be dismissed by the administration. Jreissaty said that after April 21, the legal deadline for discussions, the Labor Ministry will prepare its report and identify whether the pretexts for dismissal are valid.

If the ministry is not convinced by the reasons mentioned, if discussions do not lead to an appropriate termination program that guarantees employees’ rights and if PAC continues to refuse engaging in consultations and paying due wages, the ministry reserves the right to draw conclusions regarding the description of the termination.

The minister briefed the delegation on the course of this case at the ministry, mainly regarding the consultation request in order to verify the economic reasons behind the collective termination.

Exclusive sources told LBCI that the Labor Ministry will issue on Tuesday a symbolic fine of 2,500,000 LBP against PAC for failing to pay its employees. If the company continues on this course and fails to take part in consultations, a second fine will be issued in the next two days, this time of 2,500,000 LBP for each of the 397 employees expected to be dismissed.
