Jaafari Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Kabalan asked for a national settlement in order to reach an agreement over a new Lebanese president who unifies the country.
Sheikh kabalan emphasized the Christian-Muslim coexistence during his speech at Al Hussein Mosque, explaining that the regional threats require solid solidarity, and that a new electoral law based on proportional representation is needed for the preservation of the Lebanese diversity. Kabalan also stressed the need to hold the elections at their constitutional time because the country cannot bear any other vacant positions.
For his part, Druze Sheikh al-Aql Naim Hassan regretted in his speech the shameful ongoing presidential vacuum, the parliamentary paralysis and the growing obstruction in the government.
