Foreign Affairs Minister Gebran Bassil said Tuesday that the Free Patriotic Movement values the importance of reciprocal recognition in terms of governance, calling for solidarity in order to find a solution to the presidency crisis.
Bassil also held a trilateral meeting with Patriarch Rai and Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb wherein they discussed the apple crisis.
Chehayeb announced that Russia agreed to reduce taxes imposed on apples from $250 to $66 for each ton, adding that the exportation of apple production to Egypt was approved.
Separately, the foreign minister held a meeting on the sidelines with Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea.
Bassil described his conversation with Geagea as “great,” stressing that their meeting was not a coincidence.
For his part, Geagea emphasized after meeting with Patriarch Rai that a package deal regarding the issue of the presidency is unthinkable, adding that MP Michel Aoun will not negotiate any package deal.
