Ban calls for lifting sanctions against Burma
U.N. Secretary General Ban ki-Moon urged western countries to take further steps that will lift political and economic sanctions imposed against Burma.

In a speech delivered before the Parliament in Naypyidaw, Ban stressed the need to increase development aid and foreign investment.

Ban had met earlier with Burma’s president in the presidential palace in the capital of Naypyidaw.
