Democratic Gathering bloc says will vote for Aoun

Democratic Gathering bloc head MP Walid Jumblatt said on Saturday that his bloc will vote in favor of Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun, adding that the majority of his bloc’s MPs will vote for Aoun during Monday’s session.

Jumblatt’s comments were made following the bloc’s meeting in Clemenceau.

"At this moment of my life’s history, I go back forty years throughout which I have lived stages of tough presidential elections...and the day after tomorrow, I shall somewhat conclude forty years of my life by casting my vote for General Michel Aoun," Jumblatt said.

Lebanon's parliament is set to put an end for more than two years of presidential stalemate on Monday by electing former army general Michel Aoun as president, but the vote is unlikely to heal deep political divisions.
