Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones banned at Beirut airport

Civil Aviation Authority declared on Tuesday a ban on Galaxy Note 7 phones on flights taking off from Beirut airport due to safety concerns.

Aviation chief Mohammad Shahab al-Din declared in a statement that all passengers may no longer carry the Note 7 phone on flights because of fears that the mentioned devices might catch fire.

Following the approval of the Public Works and Transport Ministry, the airport inaugurated an office in the departure area at the airport where passengers can deposit their Note 7 phones.

Passengers can collect them when they return to Lebanon or replace them with another Samsung phone.

Samsung recalled 2.5 million Note 7 units last September after a flaw was discovered that may cause the phone to catch fire.
