Kahwagi says army safeguarded national stability

Army Commander Major General Jean Kahwagi stressed on Monday that the army's resilience and its ability to protect stability has paved the way for ending the presidential vacuum.

“The performance of the army has contributed to protect the state's institutions, and to safeguard national stability which paved the way for ending the presidential vacuum by electing General Michel Aoun as President,” said Kahwagi during a dinner banquet held in his honor.

“The Lebanese army succeeded in breaking the spear of terrorism at the borders and to eradicate most of its cells internally, foiling its destructive plans that aimed at dragging regional chaos into Lebanon,” Kahwagi noted.

He confirmed that the army is “in a very good condition, despite the many dangers that continue to exist.”
