Mixed reactions emerged between the Israelis regarding the victory of Republican Donald Trump in the US presidential elections.
While many welcomed his election, since he has declared support for the settlements and his intention to make Jerusalem an eternal and undivided capital for the Jewish state, others on the other hand deemed his positions unpredicted and abrupt.
The Israeli right-wing and settlers considered that the election of Trump comes as a green light to expand the settlements, taking into consideration the statements launched by Trump’s advisers for strategic affairs. They also called on PM Benjamin Netanyahu to implement further settlement projects.
In the same regard, ministers said that with the victory of Trump, “the era of the Palestinian state is over.”
However, some Israelis raised concerns regarding the Iranian-Syrian issue, mainly the approach to be adopted by Trump to deal with the agreement with Iran.
