Mikati calls for inclusive cooperation between Lebanese
PM Najib Mikati called on Thursday for an inclusive cooperation between the Lebanese as implied by the “current delicate phase” in order to fortify Lebanon, help it overcome current challenges and achieve economic recovery.

In his speech during the Arab Economic Forum at the Phoenicia Hotel, Mikati said that “the political reality absorbs [political positions] because they remain under the ceiling of Democracy to which Lebanon adheres” .

Mikati added “you can rest assured; Lebanon has always managed to overcome hardships because it is the country of life and understanding. Reaching agreement on our state is crucial; and we refuse any alternative formula.”

Commenting on economic issues, Mikati assured that that the cabinet is working on boosting investment in order to increase job opportunities and bolster growth amid current regional threats.
Mikati added that Lebanon’s economy managed to achieve significant growth despite the turmoil that swept through the region last year, as he said.

“Initial reports show that the growth rate of the 2011 GDP is approximately 5%”, the prime minister said, adding that this growth is likely to continue in 2012.
